Christmas Message to the Coordinators of the Biblical Apostolate

Dear Brothers in the Biblical Apostolate,

As we approach the celebration of the Incarnation—the supreme expression of the divine presence among us—let the theme chosen for the coming 7th Sunday of the Word of God be our guiding light: “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly” (Col 3:16).

The past year has been marked by the Jubilee Year of the Universal Church and the celebration of the Society of the Divine Word’s 150th founding anniversary. Both occasions call for immense gratitude and recognition of the grace bestowed upon us. In these celebrations, and in the coming Christmas, we are reminded that our very name calls us to be dwelling places where the Word takes root, grows, and bears fruit.

This Christmas, I give thanks for the remarkable ways the Word has dwelt among us through your dedicated service throughout the year 2025. Across all zones, we have witnessed the Word at work: numerous confreres engaged in systematic biblical ministry, active Biblical Centers serving communities, and vibrant digital outreach through social media, YouTube, and WhatsApp reaching thousands. Our Bible-sharing groups, Lectio Divina sessions, and formation programs continue to grow. I am especially grateful for the expansion of Dei Verbum Courses in our zones, with the PANAM international Dei Verbum course in Quito, Ecuador, launching in 2026, and plans for its expansion into ASPAC.

As we gather around the manger this Christmas, may we, like Mary, treasure the Word in our hearts. May the Christ Child, the Word made flesh, dwell richly among you, enrich your life, and guide your ministry—and may your continued dedicated service bring the Word of God to dwell richly among all those we serve.

Blessed Christmas and a grace-filled New Year!

Fraternally in the Divine Word,

Wojciech Szypuła, SVD
General Coordinator for Biblical Apostolate
