Guidelines for a Synodal Pastoral Ministry from the Spirituality and Charism of the Divine Word

At the heart of this approach is the “SVD missionary profile.” Mission is one and unique because it belongs to God. The Spirit has bestowed multiple charisms so that, as baptized and consecrated persons, we may participate in it in a singular way. There is no “SVD mission” as such; rather, there are spaces and instances where we find ourselves committed to God’s mission from our SVD (Society of the Divine Word) identity and charismatic service.

A Synodal Church in Missionary Outreach

The Synod on Synodality encouraged us to propose basic material that would help deepen certain characteristics of our ecclesial community life and mission. We will do so by drawing on the Word of God and the Church’s teaching, in order to connect with our particular reality. May this material complement what is happening in each community.

Community Guiding Reflections on the XIX General Chapter Statement

Our XIX General Chapter came out with a Final Statement worthy of our continuous reflection and prayer. We are indeed immersed in a wounded world thirsty of reconciliation, healing and liberation. We face this reality in our day-to-day apostolic contact with people, living in different situations, many times looking at us for guidance and encouragement. What is more striking is that we are not freed from these pains, but, as our Chapter Statement says, we are ‘wounded healers’, we also carry our own wounds, we also thirst for healing.
