EUROPA Zone JPIC Coordinators’ Workshop
Richard Quadros, SVD (General JPIC Coordinator)
The poor, the marginalized, and migrants remain the most vulnerable groups in our society. They continue to experience economic insecurity, regional disadvantages, social exclusion, discrimination, and barriers to integration and identity. The ongoing wars and conflicts in various parts of Europe and beyond further aggravate these challenges, posing serious obstacles to building a just, peaceful, and compassionate society.
In the midst of this socio-political volatility, the JPIC Coordinators of the SVD EUROPA Zone will gather at Collegio del Verbo Divino, Rome, from 3rd to 9th November 2025, for an in-depth meeting, reflection, and planning session inspired by the directions of the SVD 19th General Chapter. The Chapter, in its Resolutions and Recommendations, calls upon us to:
• Strengthen efforts in the prevention of human trafficking (Resolution 1.1.1);
• Deepening our commitment to the Migrants and Refugees Apostolate (Recommendation 2.1.1); and
• Promote and reinforce collaboration through VIVAT International (Recommendation 2.2.3).
This five-day workshop will provide a forum for JPIC Coordinators to share local initiatives, challenges, and best practices, and to engage in collective discernment on how VIVAT International in Europe can renew its strategies of advocacy, action, and networking. Special emphasis will be placed on identifying concrete steps for implementation, setting common goals and objectives, and formulating a coordinated action plan for the coming year.
Through prayerful reflection, mutual sharing, and collaborative planning, this gathering seeks to rekindle our shared commitment to the Gospel values of Justice, Peace, and Integrity of Creation, and to translate them into meaningful and transformative action within the European context.
