International Conference: Missio Dei in Today’s World

Theme: Missio Dei in Today’s World: Healing Wounds, Challenged by Postmodernity, Learning from Cultures, Inspired by Religions

On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the Society of the Divine Word (SVD), we are organizing an International Conference on Mission at Gregorian University, Rome from 27 to 29 March 2025.  

The theme of the Conference is: “Missio Dei Today: Healing Wounds, Challenged by Postmodernity, Learning from Cultures, Inspired by Religions.” This Conference is held only in the first part of the day starting each day at 8:45 am and ending at 12:45 pm. On the first day we deal with the topic, “Missio Dei Today…Healing Wounds.” The keynote speaker is Prof. Stephen Bevans, SVD, followed by four group sessions held simultaneously. Then, there will be two plenum sessions with Prof. Nicoletta Gatti and Former Senator Leila de Lima from the Philippines.

The second day deals with “Missio Dei Today…Challenged by Postmodernity.” The keynote address is given by Prof. Thomas Halik, followed by four workshop sessions held simultaneously and deepening the theme with two plenary sessions by Prof. Mike Vahakangas and Prof. Estevao Raschietti, SX.

The third day deals with “Missio Dei Today… Learning from Cultures, Inspired by Religions.” The keynote address is given by Prof. Catherine Cornille, followed by three simultaneous sessions like the previous days. The two plenary sessions will be given by Dr. Tony Pernia, SVD and Prof. Agbonkhianmeghe E. Orobator, SJ.

The speakers are from various countries, the conference is enriched by their experiences and the expertise that they bring along with to this event.
