Rooted in the Word, United in Mission: Prophetic Dialogue and Lay Collaboration in AFRAM

The Prophetic Dialogue lived through the Four Characteristic Dimensions in intercultural communities, at the service of local churches and all peoples, is our missionary drive and witness as Divine Word Missionaries. The experience of encountering so many confreres from such diverse cultural and missionary realities in AFRAM is a grace from God. A grace that becomes visible each time we, as Divine Word Missionaries, long for communion in life and mission.

The AFRAM zone possesses a very unique energy that radiates joy, hope, and confidence in Jesus’ promise to remain among us and walk with us. We are also witnesses to numerous challenges and limitations. Our own personal and communal wounds connect us to those who suffer most. Aware of being “wounded missionaries, witnesses to the Light of Christ,” we have enriched our sharing with the stories of our mission among the people in AFRAM. The more faithful we are to our participation in God’s mission, the more creatively we can carry it forward. Faithfulness means immersing ourselves once again in our religious missionary identity that is Trinitarian, incarnational, and intercultural.

Mission animation, in addition to supporting various initiatives in each PRM, is increasingly being accompanied by our lay collaborators. More and more lay groups are emerging, wishing to share in our spirituality, charism, and mission. We are witnessing numerous signs of support and service from them in our Christian communities. They also challenge us to live our vocation with faithfulness and creativity and urge us to accompany them on their journey of formation in the Divine Word missionary spirit.

Together with our lay partners, we commit to living rooted in the Word, centered on the teachings and actions of Jesus, to attain fullness of life. We strive to encourage all peoples to participate in God’s mission through the proclamation of the Good News.
