Dear Father General:

Very happy to inform you that Deacon François Xavier DJAGLI of TOG was ordained a priest by Mgr Denis AMUZU-DZAKPAH, the new Archbishop of Lomé, Togo, on Saturday August 18, 2007, in Lomé. The following day, he offered his First Mass at his home village parish at Vo-Koutimé, in the neighbouring diocese of Aného.

In a very colourful ceremony, assisted by fifty-some priests, and a multitude of religious and Christian faithful, François Xavier was ordained a priest of the Society of the Divine Word, together with four other new priests, two of them Salesians of Don Bosco, and two Franciscans (OFM), all of them of Togolese origin. Father Djagli studied theology being a member of the CFC in Kinshasa, R D Congo, where he had professed his final vows in 2006.

The ordaining prelat, Mgr Denis Amuzu-Dzakpah, himself was consecrated a bishop by Christian Cardinal TUMI of Douala, Cameroon, only three days prior to this on the feast of the Assumption, in Lomé. He is now the 4th Archbishop of Lomé, Togo.

So these five men are thus the "first fruits" of the new Archbishop!

Several confreres and delegations of faithful from different SVD parishes participated at the ceremonies on the 18th and 19th.

Herewith please find some photographs taken on the ordination day.

For uploading purposes, the photographs are sent in separate messages.

Sincerely in the Word,
Joseph Kallanchira, svd
