From AUS Mission Secretary: Typhoon Haiyan Appeal

Dear Confreres

I am writing to you today knowing that you too would be experiencing such sorrow for the Filipino people who have been so badly impacted by Typhoon Haiyan.

It is heartening to know that there are many people around the world already responding to appeals for aid and assistance. I am also aware that many of our confreres are generously giving their allowance in response to the enormous suffering of so many thousands of poor souls, and I encourage you to show your generosity as well.

The AUS Province Mission Office is proud to advise that we are also launching an appeal. Part of this launch includes an online appeal accessible from our AUS Province Divine Word Missionaries website. This online appeal will also be promoted via other social media avenues such as Facebook and Twitter. Here is the link to our website:

Therefore the intention of my correspondence to you today is to call on your compassion for the plight of the people in the Philippines and seek your generous assistance in promoting our online donation facility. So, if you can, please also promote this facility via any social media that you use (eg retwit, ‘like’ or ‘share’ on Twitter, Facebook and others) and spread the word among your friends and colleagues. It would be greatly appreciated.

As Pope Francis recently reflected, “to place oneself in the hands of God…is to place ourselves in the most secure place, in the hands of One who loves us very much”. Join me in praying to our heavenly Father to thank Him for holding all the victims of the typhoon and the relief volunteers, especially our SVD confreres involved in the relief efforts, in His hands.
