SSD Confreres now in Kenya
This morning, August 3, 2016, Fr. Superior General Heinz Kulüke received a WhatsApp message from Fr. Albert Fuchs, the Provincial of KEN, informing that our four confreres have safely arrived in Kenya.
Fr. Fuchs wrote:
Our confreres from South Sudan have arrived safely in Kenya. Thanks be to God.
Fr. Francis Naduviledathu, the Mission Superior of SSD, also dropped a WhatsApp message to Father General saying,
Good evening Fr. Heinz. We have reached our CFC house in Langata, Nairobi. Everything went very well with the flight from Yei to Juba and from Juba to Nairobi. Thanks for your prayers, concern, and love.
At around 10:40 AM Fr. Superior General was able to contact Fr. Francis by phone and expressed his joy and relief over the safe passage of our confreres to Kenya amidst great dangers and risks. He mentioned to Fr. Francis the concern of the whole Society over their safety. “We are happy that you are now in Kenya”, he added.
Fr. Francis, in the name of his team, expressed his gratitude for all the support they have received. Openly, he mentioned the difficulty they went through, especially the mental strain brought about by the pangs of war. He told Fr. General that he and his companions need time to rest, reflect and pray over their untoward experiences and also for the people they left behind. He also expressed gratitude for the offer of Father General for any help they need. The team, along with the AFRAM Zonal Coordinator, Joseph Kallanchira and Albert Fuchs, the Provincial of KEN, will meet to map out immediate and necessary plans for the future of the mission in SSD.
The safe passage of our confreres from the treacherous situation in SSD was made possible by the intervention of several Polish diplomats, an initiative staged by our confreres in Poland. Many thanks for all the efforts that brought a good result: the safety of our confreres.
More official information will follow. Our four confreres are now in good hands. Fr. Joseph Kallanchira and Fr. Albert Fuchs are around to attend immediately to their needs.
