The aftermath of Cyclone in Batsirai in Madagascar

Last Saturday, February 5, 2022, the cyclone named Batsirai made landfall in Madagascar, bringing in strong winds and rain. The BBC reports, Batsirai - the second major storm in two weeks - made landfall on the east coast, with gusts of 235km/h (146mph) and high waves hitting coastal areas. Whole villages are reported destroyed.

Fr. Alexander Dhae SVD, the Regional Superior of Madagascar, communicated with Fr. Superior General and informed him of our places of mission and our confreres. The following photos speak of the destruction in our areas of work. In addition, Fr. Dhae reported the damages and plight of those profoundly affected people.
