Annual Gathering of the SVD Brothers in the Philippines
The annual assembly of the Brothers in the Philippines took place at the SVD Laudato Si farm located in Tagaytay, from April 8 to 9, 2025. Eighteen Brothers participated: 4 from the Northern Province, 5 from the Central Province, and 9 from the Southern Province. It was a time of grace in which the Brothers were able to share about their respective ministries and reflect together on the vocation of the Brother in the context of a wounded world.
Brother Carlos Ferrada shared his reflection on the challenges of being faithful and creative Brothers in a wounded world. We listened to reports from the National Director of the Brothers, Bro. Roland Pontevedra; from the Coordinator for formation, Bro. Franco Camasura; and from the finance team, composed of Brothers Mark Paglicawan and Alben Malayo.
We dedicated a full day to developing an action plan to give new momentum to the Brother’s vocation. The pillars of the action plan are: communication, initial formation, ongoing formation, and finances.
As a result of the shared reflection, it was decided that the Brothers’ assembly will now be held every two years instead of annually. At the end of the gathering, Bro. Roland Pontevedra was re-elected as the National Coordinator of the Brothers in the Philippines.
On April 11, the Brothers went to Christ the King to accompany two Brothers in their celebration of perpetual vows: Bros. Dinh Hua Quoc Thinh and Darwin Pencil Jaime.
