SSpS-SSpSAP Leadership Team Engages with Capitulars on Mission and Legacy
Today marked a special day filled with anticipation as Fr. Budi Kleden opened the gathering with a warm welcome. The SSpS Leadership Team, led by Sister Miriam and General Councilor Sister Raquel SSpSAP, joined the session to address the Capitulars and engage in meaningful interactions.

The SSpS Leadership Team shared insights from the 15th SSpS General Chapter in 2022, emphasizing the Congregational Directions. Formation, a key component, was discussed, highlighting both challenges and best practices. Additionally, the team provided a statistical overview of the Congregation, including the restructuring of some provinces and regions, collaboration within the Arnoldus Family, and recent mission developments.
During the following interaction, Capitulars asked about collaborative efforts between the SVD and SSpS and ways to enhance them. Sister Miriam stressed the importance of preserving the Founder’s legacy through the combined spirit of the three Congregations.

Sister Raquel SSpSAP, who attended without Mother Magdalena for health reasons, reflected on the SSpSAP’s spirituality and way of life and offered guidance on living out the Chapter’s theme. She expressed gratitude for the spirit of collaboration experienced and shared plans for adapting to changing times, including formation, opening new convents, restructuring, and effective use of social media.
Expectations for the day were fully met, as the session embodied the spirit of the Arnoldus family. Laughter filled the room with questions about how the SVDs are behaving with the SSpS Sisters and how they can better support their Sisters. Another unexpected question was whether an SVD wishing to live contemplatively could join the SSpSAP convents. These interactions underscored the family spirit that binds us all.

The day continued with a spiritually fulfilling celebration of the Holy Eucharist, officiated by Norbert Koima (PNG). During this moment, Sister Kreti’s reflection on Matthew’s missionary discourse resonated deeply.
In the afternoon, participants revised the third part of the working paper, incorporating feedback from primary groups. Sub-groups completed the work, and the final session focused on following up on various recommendations, concluding with necessary votes for approval.
And so day three of the fourth week ended, Deo gracias…..
