At St. Paul’s Seminary in Ledalero, Indonesia, Fr. General Anselmo Ricardo Ribeiro, SVD, received the perpetual vows of 16 young confreres.
On the morning of August 15, the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, Father General Anselmo Ricardo Ribeiro, SVD received the perpetual vows of 16 young confreres at the St. Paul Seminary in Ledalero, Ende Province – Indonesia. In his homily, Father Ribeiro emphasized that “God enters into the history of humanity by taking humanity itself as his collaborator” and that Mary’s yes is her part in the work of salvation.

Addressing the young missionaries professing their perpetual vows Father General reminded them that their response to God’s call through religious vows is a commitment to “lead a life: simple and poor, never forgetting their origins, of listening to God’s will and obedience, so that in their lives the light of Christ may shine, and of free and chaste men who allow the work of the Holy Spirit in their missionary lives.”
It was also reminded that in mission one must be generous like Mary and prepared for sacrifice. “In difficult hours, fidelity to the vows that you profess today, will be the way of God’s consolation”, affirmed Father Ribeiro.
Finally, Anselmo thanked the formation community of Ledalero and the families of the 16 young men for their support, testimony and prayers for those who profess their perpetual vows on this day. The Eucharist was presided by Fr. Josef Emanuel Embu, provincial of Ende, concelebrated by several confreres, including visitors from other provinces and with the participation of SVD Brothers and SSpS sisters and other congregations.
