Welcoming Our New General Council Members
We welcome Fr. Anselmo Ricardo Ribeiro as the 13th Superior General of the SVD and His Council. Fr. Anselmo was elected to his position on July 4, 2024, during the 19th General Chapter held at the Centro Ad Gentes, Nemi, Italy, from June 16 to July 15. The next day, July 5, the capitulars elected Fr. Xavier Thirukudumbam of India as Vice Superior General (former Councilor). Then Bro. Michael Ertl from Germany (ITA) was elected Brother General Councilor. Finally, the capitulars re-elected Fr. Eryk Jan Koppa, from Poland, to the General Council for another term. On July 6, Fr. Yulius Yasinto from Indonesia (IDT) was the first to be elected to the General Council, followed by Fr. Fabian Mate Kalaluka from Zambia (Regional of MOZ) and Fr. Jerome Marquez from the Philippines (Provincial of PHC). On July 8, Fr. Eryk Koppa was elected General Admonitor.
As we move forward with this new leadership team, let us come together as a community to support and pray for them as they begin their work on the very day of the closing of the Chapter. They will be more in need than ever of our collective support and faith as they lead us to be faithful and creative disciples in this wounded world.
