Witnesses of Hope: Superiors General Reflect on Interculturality at 103rd USG Assembly

From May 22 to 24, 2025, the 103rd Assembly of the Union of Superiors General (USG) took place at Fraterna Domus in Sacrofano, near Rome. The central theme of the gathering was “Witnesses of Hope”. The assembly brought together Superiors General from around the world for a time of prayer, reflection, and fraternal exchange on how consecrated life can be a credible sign of hope in today’s world.

Throughout the three days, the participants engaged in a series of plenary sessions, small group discussions, and liturgical celebrations aimed at deepening the understanding of leadership shaped by intercultural living, dialogue, and Gospel-rooted values.

One of the sessions was facilitated by Father General Anselmo, who offered reflections on interculturality as challenges and opportunities in religious communities. His insights contributed to the broader conversation on how diversity, when embraced with humility and openness, can enrich mission and community life.

The assembly fostered a spirit of communion and renewal, as participants shared their congregational experiences and sought together how to witness more effectively to hope in a fragmented and polarized world. The USG affirmed its ongoing commitment to journeying with the Church in synodality, intercultural dialogue, and prophetic witness.

As the Assembly concluded, the Superiors General expressed gratitude for the shared time of discernment and recommitted themselves to leading with hope, courage, and solidarity in the spirit of the Gospel.
