A new EDIVERBUM-SVD bookshop, established by the SVD Togo/Benin Province, has been inaugurated at the Marie Theotokos Parish in Agoenyive, in the Archdiocese of Lomé, Togo. Dedicated to Saint Arnold Janssen, the bookshop’s opening forms part of the celebrations marking the 150th anniversary of the Society of the Divine Word (SVD).

The blessing ceremony for the St. Arnold Janssen Bookshop took place on 12 June 2025, coinciding with the memorial day of the SVD Blessed Martyrs: Louis, Stanislas, Aloïs, and Grégoire. The rite was presided over by Father Provincial Marian Schwark, accompanied by several confreres, particularly those serving in Lomé.

Fr. Bertin Kizito Koudoagbo, SVD, Director of EDIVERBUM-SVD and supervisor of the construction project, emphasized that the goal of the initiative is to place the Bible in everyone’s hands and make the Word of God as accessible as possible.

The bookshop is strategically located just off the main road connecting Lomé to the northern region of the country, ensuring high visibility due to heavy traffic in the area.
