Appreciating our Local Heroes: A Post-Easter Lunch with the Zimbabwe Republic Police

Following the joyful Sunday Easter celebrations, St. Monica Catholic Church in Beatrice extended gratitude to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Beatrice Station by hosting them for a special lunch on April 20, 2025. Fifteen officers joined parishioners for a day of fellowship, dialogue, and appreciation.

The event began with warm welcome and introductions by Parish Chairman Mr. Martin Matsa and Parish Priest Fr. Edmundus SVD, who highlighted the purpose of the gathering, to thank the police for their service and partnership. The  Parish priest especially acknowledged their crucial role in supporting the parish,  especially on the anti-drug campaign , a first of a kind event orgnised by a religious movement in the area, pioneering initiative in Beatrice that has inspired positive change in the community. 

In response, the officers praised the church’s efforts in promoting peace and moral values. The Beatrice Station Officer-in-Charge also shared encouraging words on community safety and the importance of continued collaboration between the police and residents. 

The day concluded with a hearty meal, featuring delicious barbecue, refreshments, and lively conversations and entertainment, strengthening the bond between the parish and our local law enforcement.  The parish extends it’s deepest gratitude to the ZRP for their dedication and look forward to working together for a safer, drug-free Beatrice.
