Arnoldus Spirituality Workshop in Quito Strengthens Communion and Mission in PANAM
Navil D Silva, SVD
The workshop aimed to strengthen and revitalize local spirituality teams, foster bonds of communion among members of the Arnoldus Family in the PANAM Zone, and encourage the creation and renewal of spirituality teams at the PRM level. Participants also worked on developing modules and guidelines for the follow-up of the workshop.
The sessions were facilitated by a diverse team from the Arnoldus Family whose deep spiritual experience and missionary commitment in the service of the Incarnate Word in the continent were greatly appreciated by the participants. The methodology included presentations, personal and group reflection, moments of prayer, Eucharistic adoration, Eucharistic celebrations, and faith-sharing experiences approached from practical, theoretical, and contextual perspectives.
Among the topics discussed were an introduction to spirituality, Trinitarian and missionary spirituality, spirituality as a path of continual personal and missionary renewal, spirituality rooted in healing a wounded world, and the relationship between spirituality and integral ecology.
The workshop became a profound experience of encounter with the Triune God and an opportunity to share faith, life, and mission among the participants, strengthening fraternity, joy, and peace within the group.
As highlighted during the gathering:
“The spiritual life of Divine Word Missionaries is deeply rooted in Trinitarian spirituality and in the religious experience of our founder, St. Arnold Janssen. The Divine Word is the living source that sustains our missionary spirituality” (GC 2024, 43).
