The programme opened with a warm welcome from Fr. Mariusz Pacula, SVD, Mission Superior of the SVD Bangladesh Mission, together with six seminarians, who introduced the participants to the life of the missionary community. The days of formation officially began with the Enthronement of the Word of God, emphasizing that authentic vocational discernment begins by listening to God’s Word.

Host Parish Priest Fr. Justin Thomas, SVD, welcomed the participants and introduced them to the rich Christian heritage of Diang, often called the “Bethlehem of Bangladesh.” He recalled the witness of the early Christian martyrs who remained faithful to Christ despite persecution, inspiring the young men to reflect on the meaning of commitment and missionary discipleship.

Throughout the programme, participants learned about the history, spirituality, and missionary charism of the Society of the Divine Word through formation sessions led by Fr. Mariusz Pacula, SVD. As a symbol of their participation, each received an SVD T-shirt, a rosary, and a copy of the Quarter Hour Prayer to accompany their personal prayer and ongoing discernment.

Formation was complemented by group discussions, recreational activities, and opportunities for fellowship, creating an atmosphere where participants could share their experiences, ask questions, and grow together in faith. These moments fostered fraternity while helping the young men gain a deeper understanding of missionary life.

The programme concluded on July 26 with the celebration of the Eucharist, sending the participants back to their families and parishes with renewed faith and a greater appreciation of the missionary vocation. More than an introduction to the Society, the “Come and See” programme became an invitation to continue listening to God’s call and discerning how they might one day share in the Church’s mission as Divine Word Missionaries.
