Catechists on Bicycles: Strengthening Mission in Lainya Parish

SSD Communication Team

From 21 to 22 April 2026, Holy Family Parish in Lainya organized a pastoral meeting for catechists representing nearly all chapels within the parish. A total of fifteen catechists participated in this meaningful gathering.

During the meeting, we focused on strengthening their understanding of the Sacraments, with particular emphasis on Baptism, Holy Communion, and Confirmation. The catechists expressed great joy and appreciation for this formation, which deepened their knowledge and strengthened their confidence in teaching and accompanying those preparing to receive the Sacraments.

We also presented a report on Sunday Mass offerings and the celebration of the Liturgy of the Word across the parish chapels. In addition, updates were shared regarding our mission and ongoing pastoral activities.

At the conclusion of the meeting, a total of 30 bicycles, generously donated by MIVA Polska, were given to the catechists. We will continue to provide bicycles to other catechists who were unable to attend or have not yet received one. The recipients expressed heartfelt gratitude to the SVD missionaries and to all benefactors for this meaningful support.

These bicycles will greatly enhance their pastoral ministry by enabling catechists to travel more easily to their chapels, save time, and reduce transportation costs. This support is especially important when visiting the sick, leading prayers in small Christian communities, and assisting with sacramental celebrations, particularly in conducting funeral liturgies in remote bush areas where vehicles cannot reach.

With this support, catechists will be able to visit communities more regularly, guide the faithful in prayer, and share the Word of God more effectively. They will also find it easier to attend parish meetings, participate in workshops, and report on their pastoral activities. As they rode their bicycles home, their faces radiated joy and gratitude.

We hope that these bicycles will continue to support our catechists in proclaiming the Good News and serving the people of God more effectively, especially the sick and those living in remote areas.

Finally, we give thanks to God for His many blessings. We express our deep gratitude to all our benefactors, especially MIVA Polska, for their prayers and generous support. Through their kindness, our mission becomes more fruitful and accessible. We firmly believe that God continues to sustain our mission through their solidarity. May He bless them abundantly and inspire continued support for missionary work throughout the world.
