Chapel Blessings, Baptisms, and a Wedding Celebrated in Vohilava District

Emmanuel Mawuli Anyomi, SVD

The Parish of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary of Vohilava, in the Diocese of Mananjary, celebrated the inauguration and blessing of two new chapels for the Christian communities of Ambodinonoka Miray and Ambalanomby.

The chapel in Ambodinonoka Miray was blessed on August 21, 2026, as the community sought the spiritual protection and intercession of Blessed Victoire Rasoamanarivo. Two days later, on August 23, the faithful of Ambalanomby gathered for the blessing of their new chapel under the patronage of Blessed Lucien Botovasoa. The celebration in Ambodinonoka Miray also included baptisms and the sacrament of marriage, making the occasion a joyful expression of faith, communion, and renewed commitment to Christian life.

Heartfelt gratitude was extended to everyone who contributed to the construction of the chapels, especially Mrs. Cheong Sou Peng from Vietnam, whose generous support helped bring the project to completion. The communities also expressed their appreciation to the Diocese of Mananjary; Fr. Albert Louis Mamonjisoa, SVD; and Fr. Hien Thai Peter Phan, SVD, Vicar of the Vohilava District, for their dedication and initiative in connecting the communities with generous benefactors.

Fr. Alexander Dhae, SVD, representing the Local Ordinary, and Fr. Emmanuel Mawuli Anyomi, SVD, joined the faithful on these significant occasions. Through the generosity, collaboration, and missionary commitment of everyone involved, the two communities now have sacred spaces where they can gather for prayer, celebrate the sacraments, receive formation, and deepen their communion with God and one another.
