Divine Word Missionaries Promote Mission Animation Gathering for Migrants in Argentina
Saju Aruvelil, SVD, and Gustavo Jaimes, SVD
This valuable initiative also included the participation of the Communications Coordinator, Mr. Gustavo Jaimes, which made possible a joint effort between the dimensions of mission animation and communication, thus offering a meaningful example of collaboration in mission.
The gathering took place from January 30 to February 1 and brought together 120 participants, becoming the first event of its kind in the region. Inspired by the missionary spirit of St. Arnold Janssen, who sent German missionaries to Argentina to provide pastoral care to migrants from the Volga region, the Divine Word Missionaries continue today to accompany migrant communities in their pastoral and spiritual realities.
Following this legacy, the Mission Secretariat of the Argentina South Province (ARS) promoted this space for spiritual encounter, aimed mainly at Paraguayan migrants, offering moments of formation, reflection, and strengthening of faith.
During the gathering, Mr. Gustavo Jaimes gave a presentation on the mission of the Divine Word Missionaries and the dimension of communication in evangelization.
Participants expressed their deep gratitude to the Society of the Divine Word for this initiative. In addition, three similar gatherings are planned throughout the year in order to ensure continuity and follow-up in this process of missionary accompaniment.
