Of The Divine Word

For over 50 years, the Divine Word Theologate community has embraced the mission of educating and forming the next generation of Divine Word Missionary priests and brothers from across the three SVD Provinces covering the U.S., Canada, and the Caribbean and more recently from numerous SVD Provinces across the globe. Although the complexion of the community’s membership has changed and diversified over the years, the core mission of the Theologate perdures, and now more than ever, it’s understood that the formation of missionaries doesn’t occur in the classroom alone. In fact, a variety of opportunities for practical, ministerial, and experiential learning serve to enhance and augment the educational rigors of graduate studies at the Catholic Theological Union (CTU) and other institutions of higher learning. Among the values the formation program at the Theologate aims to inculcate in those who pass through her doors is understanding and embracing the SVD Characteristic Dimensions of Justice, Peace, and the Integrity of Creation (JPIC) at both the individual and communal levels. In the Newsletter, we invite you to read and learn about the exciting initiatives our Theologate community members are undertaking as a way of concretizing our commitment to JPIC and, in light of the theme of the 19th SVD General Chapter, to respond with both fidelity and creativity to the wounds of our world today.
