Empowering Women, Transforming Lives: A Grand Women’s Day Celebration
The program was inaugurated by Fr. Harry Victor, while Mrs. Manjula Doddwad, an esteemed member of the Janvi Deepa Sangha self-help group in Nesargi, presided over the event. The celebration was further graced by the presence of Sr. Lourd Joseph, former Child and Women Welfare President of Belagavi District, as the Chief Guest. Additionally, Fr. Lourduswamy, former Assistant Secretary of the Belgaum Diocesan Social Service Society and Parish Priest of St. Michael’s Parish, Hidkal Dam, attended as the Guest of Honor, adding prestige to the occasion. The event was also enriched by the participation of Sr. Veneranda (Bethany Sister) and Sr. Jyothi (Apostolic Carmel Sister), whose presence underscored the significance of women’s empowerment.
Mrs. Lalita coordinated the event as the Master of Ceremonies, with valuable assistance from social workers Fakeerappa Halemani, Holeppa Talawar, and Neelavva Buruli. These dedicated individuals actively facilitate Self-Help Group (SHG) meetings in local villages, furthering the cause of women’s development at the grassroots level.
A highlight of the celebration was the vibrant performances by children from Maria Bhavan Ashram, Madanbhavi, and Deshnur Tuition Center. Their creative presentations captivated the audience while addressing pressing social issues affecting women. The performances also delved into the role of social media in contemporary society, raising awareness about its influence on women’s lives.
Sr. Lourd and Fr. Lourduswamy delivered compelling speeches emphasizing the indispensable role of women in society. They acknowledged both the achievements and the challenges faced by women, underscoring the necessity of continued advocacy for justice, equal opportunities, and empowerment.
As the event ended, the women left feeling inspired and united. The celebration was a strong reminder that everyone has a role in supporting and uplifting women. It highlighted the need for equal opportunities and fairness in society. The event encouraged all participants to continue working towards a better future for women everywhere.
