Faith-Driven Leadership Training in Kamranga, Tripura

St. Raphael Parish in Kamranga (Tripura) held a one-day leadership training session for lay leaders on March 22, 2026, as planned by the Parish Pastoral Council. The program focused on equipping men leaders to guide Small Christian Community (SCC) groups, various associations, and to serve as responsible stewards in the parish.

More than 50 men leaders from the parish’s sub-stations attended. Fr. Ivan D’Silva, SVD, parish priest and resource person, opened the session with a role-play illustrating how to face daily challenges. He asked, “Is there anyone here without problems?” noting that everyone—rich or poor, literate or illiterate—faces difficulties. He emphasized that true leaders do not avoid problems but face them and grow stronger.

Participants were then invited to rate the overall functioning of the parish on a scale of 100. After discussion, they agreed on a score of 25. They were divided into five groups to reflect on how to improve this situation. Their reports proposed practical steps, especially greater participation in parish life.

Mr. Angod Halam described the session as “an eye-opening experience,” encouraging men to reduce alcohol and other harmful habits. Mr. Simon Halam emphasized the importance of joining SCC Bible-sharing, expressing confidence that such engagement would deepen the Church’s faith life.

The session concluded with proposals to introduce an annual delegate contribution and to establish a dedicated parish fund.
