Farewell to Fr. Budi from the CVD

On July 28, 2024, the CVD (Collegio Del Verbo Divino) organized a farewell for Fr. Paulus Budi Kleden from the SVD Generalate in Rome. It is noteworthy that Fr. Budi has been chosen by the Holy See to become the new Archbishop of the Diocese of Ende in his home country, Indonesia. The celebration centered on the Eucharist, presided over by Fr. Budi and concelebrated by Fr. Anselmo Ricardo Ribeiro, the current Superior General of the SVD, the rector of the CVD, Fr. Bakoma Dadjomgou, and the brothers of the Collegio, along with students and staff from the Generalate.

In his farewell message, Fr. Budi shared that the CVD community is where he has spent the most time, a total of 12 years. He expressed his gratitude to the staff of the Generalate and all members of the Collegio community, as well as to the former Superior General, Fr. Heinz Kulüke, and his council. He also thanked the rectors of the CVD, both former and current, including Fr. Dadjomgou. He extended his best wishes to the new Superior General, Fr. Anselmo, and his Council. Additionally, he thanked those present, especially Sr. Miriam Altenhofen, General Coordinator of the SSpS.

For his part, the Superior General, Fr. Anselmo, highlighted Fr. Budi’s leadership over the past six years at the helm of the SVD, appreciating his accomplishments and leadership examples. He thanked him for his service and dedication to the SVD family, wishing him the best in the new responsibility he is about to undertake, and asked him to “love his flock in the same way he loved his flock in the SVD.”

The Eucharistic celebration was followed by a fraternal gathering and then lunch, during which several attendees offered words to Fr. Budi, highlighting his humility and wishing him well in his future mission as Archbishop of Ende.
