More than a physical structure, the fence has become a sign of hope and renewal for the mission. It has created a safe environment where children can play sports, young people can gather for activities, and students can attend school without fear. Families now feel more confident allowing their children to participate in parish programs, education, and community events.

The enclosed area also allows the mission to cultivate vegetables, fruit trees, rice, and other crops, contributing to food security and sustainability. Each day, many residents come to the mission compound to collect clean water from the borehole, transforming the area into a place of encounter, fellowship, and community life.

The project has also strengthened the spiritual life of the parish. Children, youth, and adults regularly gather for prayer, catechesis, and the celebration of the Eucharist. As more families return from refugee camps and begin rebuilding their lives, the mission continues to provide a welcoming space for faith formation, education, and human development.

In a region still recovering from displacement and insecurity, the fence represents far more than protection. It reflects the Church’s commitment to accompanying people on their journey toward healing, stability, and hope. Through this project, the Society of the Divine Word continues its mission of promoting both spiritual and human development alongside the people of Lainya.
