Tagaytay City, Philippines – As part of the global celebration of the 150th Founding Anniversary of the Society of the Divine Word (SVD), a vibrant and heartfelt musical-interpretative dance concert titled “In the Light of the Word” was held on April 26, 2025, at the SVD Tagaytay Gymnasium.

The event featured two shows — a Matinee at 3:00 PM and a Gala performance at 7:00 PM — both of which opened with a Memorial Service in honor of Pope Francis, who was laid to rest in Rome at 4:00 PM Philippine time on the same day. The tribute served as a touching reminder of Pope Francis’ legacy and deep connection to the global Church. Fondly called Lolo Kiko by many Filipinos, his memory added a solemn and meaningful dimension to the joyful event.

The concert brought together an array of performances from various groups connected to the SVD family. These included students from the Alternative Learning System (ALS), the youth and children of SVD Tagaytay, SVD employees (co-missionaries), Scholastics, Postulants, members of the Divine Word Institute of Mission Studies (DWIMS), and the SVD priests themselves.

Through music and interpretative dance, the participants expressed themes of mission, faith, community, and the enduring power of God’s Word. Their performances reflected the rich diversity and deep spiritual unity of the SVD community. The audience was treated not just to artistic excellence but to a profound message of hope and missionary zeal.

The collaborative effort behind the concert was evident. Everyone — from performers to technical staff, organizers, and the audience — contributed to the event’s success, embodying the spirit of communion and shared mission that the SVDs have championed for 150 years.

Truly, “In the Light of the Word” was more than just a concert; it was a celebration of faith, a tribute to a beloved pope, and a shining testament to the enduring legacy of the Society of the Divine Word.
