The seventh batch of the Digital Ambassadors Training Programme brought together 29 young participants, including several religious sisters, for a week of intensive formation in digital communication at Shanthi Bhavan, the Provincial House of the SVD India East Province in Jharsuguda. Held from August 10 to 15, 2026, the programme focused on artificial intelligence, graphic design, content creation, and social media management.

Organized by Satprakashan Sanchar Kendra under the leadership of Fr. Babu Joseph, SVD, and Fr. Anthony Swamy, SVD, the training sought to equip participants with practical skills for responsible, creative, and ethical engagement in today’s digital environment.

At the opening session, Fr. Russel, SVD, local organizer, welcomed the participants and resource persons. Fr. Anuranjan, SVD, Provincial Superior of the SVD India East Province, emphasized the importance of a constructive presence on digital platforms. He encouraged participants to become “digital ambassadors” who promote peace, understanding, and harmony and serve as bridge builders in a digital world often affected by misinformation, negativity, and conflict.

Fr. Babu Joseph, SVD, programme coordinator, challenged the participants to move beyond passive consumption of online material. “We should not remain content consumers but become content contributors,” he said, encouraging them to produce original and meaningful content rather than simply forwarding or sharing the work of others.

The programme centered on three major areas: photography and graphic design, artificial intelligence tools for content creation, and social media management. Practical sessions, demonstrations, and hands-on exercises enabled participants to apply what they learned throughout the week.

Fr. Anthony Swamy, SVD, led the initial sessions on photography, introducing participants to visual composition, framing, perspective, and the importance of developing an eye for meaningful images. Participants then practiced these principles using cameras and mobile phones.

Participants develop their digital skills through hands-on training activities.

The training continued with graphic design, covering color theory, typography, visual balance, branding, and effective visual communication. Using Canva, participants created flyers, posters, and other digital materials. Practical exercises invited them to highlight tribal culture, traditional food, and indigenous art forms, integrating local cultural expressions with contemporary digital design.

Mr. Harneet Singh facilitated sessions on artificial intelligence and prompt engineering. Participants learned how to formulate effective prompts and explored the creative and responsible use of AI in content production. They were introduced to platforms including Suno AI, Google Flow, CapCut, Gemini, and ElevenLabs for producing music, videos, visual content, voice materials, and animations.

Among the practical activities was the creation of inspirational anthem songs for parishes and institutions. Participants also experimented with character animation and visual storytelling, gaining firsthand experience of how emerging technologies can support creativity and communication.

The Digital Ambassadors Training Programme aims to form communicators capable of using technology not merely for entertainment but as an instrument for education, evangelization, social awareness, and the promotion of positive values. By integrating technical skills with responsible communication, the programme encourages young people and religious to engage the digital world with creativity and purpose.

The training concluded on August 15, with participants returning to their parishes, institutions, and communities better prepared to become creative content producers, responsible digital communicators, and bridge builders in the digital age.
