Her Excellency Penny Dewi Herasati, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Hungary, paid her first official visit to the town of Kőszeg on June 7, 2026. As part of her visit, she attended the celebration of Holy Mass at the chapel of the Szent Imre Mission House, where she met with the local faithful and members of the Divine Word Missionaries (SVD) community.

The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Fr. Fransiskus Xaverius Magung, SVD, a missionary from Flores, Indonesia, who has served in Hungary since 2005. The community warmly welcomed Ambassador Herasati, whose visit highlighted the enduring friendship between Indonesia and Hungary.

Following the liturgy, Ambassador Herasati met with Mr. Béla Básthy, Mayor of Kőszeg, who introduced the city’s historical landmarks and the Town Hall. During the meeting, the Mayor expressed his appreciation for Indonesia and acknowledged the missionary ministry of Fr. Fransiskus, whose dedicated service has helped strengthen the bonds of friendship between the two nations.

The delegation from the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Budapest also visited the grave of Fr. Lando Modestus, SVD (†2018), an Indonesian missionary, as well as the resting place of Fr. Ferenc Mészáros, a Hungarian missionary who served on the island of Flores for 37 years. The visit honored the longstanding missionary ties and shared history linking Indonesia and Hungary.
