On 16 July, confreres gathered at Dorodosy for the Annual Regional Assembly, which opened with the solemn procession of the Holy Scriptures, affirming the central place of God’s Word in the Society’s life and mission. Regional Superior Fr. Emmanuel Mawuli Anyomi, SVD, called the confreres to deepen their commitment to unity, shared responsibility, and missionary service rooted in the spirituality of the Word. The Assembly reviewed the Region’s ministries, formation, stewardship, and future priorities while discerning the challenges and opportunities of mission in Madagascar.

A major outcome of the Assembly was the unanimous decision to establish the Arnold Janssen Spirituality Centre in Fianarantsoa. The centre will promote the Society’s Four Characteristic Dimensions, with particular emphasis on the Biblical Apostolate, strengthening missionary formation and the SVD charism.

The celebrations continued on 18 July with the priestly ordination of Fr. Soamihely Allyd Michaël, SVD, and Fr. Razafimahafaly André, SVD, at Divine Word Parish, Ambatobe. Presided over by Bishop José Alfredo Caires de Nóbrega, SCJ, Bishop of Mananjary, the Eucharistic celebration gathered priests, religious, families, and faithful from across the Region. Enriched by the cultural traditions of Madagascar, the joyful celebration expressed the vitality of the local Church and gratitude for the gift of new missionary vocations.

Together, these events affirmed the Madagascar Region’s commitment to collaborative mission and witnessed to God’s continuing call to generous missionaries, inspired by the charism of St. Arnold Janssen.
