National Meeting of the Arnoldus Family Spirituality in Brazil Brings Together Missionaries in Ponta Grossa

Wendelinus Sowe Teluma’S, SVD

From November 13 to 16, 2025, the city of Ponta Grossa (PR) hosted the National Meeting of the Arnoldus Family Spirituality in Brazil, bringing together members of the Society of the Divine Word (SVD), the Missionary Sisters Servants of the Holy Spirit (SSpS), two lay representatives of the Arnoldus Family, and, in a special spirit of prayerful communion, the Holy Spirit Adoration Sisters (SSpS AP). The meeting took place at the convent of the Missionary Sisters Servants of the Holy Spirit (SSpS), offering four days of fellowship, reflection, prayer, and spiritual enrichment.

Participants from Across Brazil

The gathering brought together nine Divine Word Missionaries from the three SVD Provinces and one Region in Brazil (BRS = 4; BRC = 1; BRN = 2; BRA = 2) — including eight priests and one brother — along with two laywomen from the Arnoldus Family Spirituality Team, Kristina and Rosana.

Also present were eight Missionary Sisters Servants of the Holy Spirit (SSpS), including four Provincials:

  • Fr. Paulus K. Tolang, SVD – Provincial, SVD Brazil South (BRS)
  • Fr. Denzil Crasta, SVD – Provincial, SVD Brazil North (BRN)
  • Sr. Ana Elídia, SSpS – Provincial, SSpS Brazil North
  • Sr. Fátima, SSpS – Provincial, SSpS Brazil South

Visit to the Holy Spirit Adoration Sisters

Midway through the gathering, the participants made a fraternal visit to the Holy Spirit Adoration Sisters (SSpS AP), also in Ponta Grossa — one of the most meaningful moments of the program.

Fruits and Commitments for the Mission

The National Meeting of Arnoldus Family Spirituality in Brazil bore abundant fruits for all participants. Over four days, through shared prayer and dialogue, the members deepened their commitment to live the Trinitarian Spirituality, strengthen synodality within the Church, and renew their missionary presence in the diverse contexts where the Arnoldus Family serves.

A National Spirituality Team was established, including representatives from the SVD Provinces and Region, the SSpS, the SSpS AP, and lay collaborators. This team will be responsible for animating, coordinating, and promoting joint initiatives that enrich the spiritual and missionary life of the Arnoldus Family throughout Brazil.

A common program for the next three years was also defined, including formation meetings, moments of shared prayer, the preparation of spiritual materials, and actions aimed at fostering greater unity among missionaries, sisters, and laypeople — always inspired by the Most Holy Trinity, source of communion and mission.

The meeting concluded with renewed enthusiasm and a strong desire to walk together, witnessing that the Arnoldus Spirituality remains alive wherever we pray, serve, listen, and journey as brothers and sisters.

Finally, united with Saint Arnold Janssen and Saint Joseph Freinademetz, with Blesseds Maria Helena and Josefa, and the Verbite Martyrs, we lifted a hymn of praise to the Triune God: “May the Triune God live in our hearts and the hearts of all people.”
