New Vocations, Mission in Motion: SVD CAM 2025 Seminarians Begin Their Missionary Journey
The seminarians are Elías Cortedano (Nicaragua), currently in his second year of Philosophy, along with Jhon Jairo (Colombia), Norvin López (Nicaragua), and José Henriquez (Panama), who are beginning their Aspirancy. They have taken their first steps in formation, focusing on three fundamental pillars of a SVD missionary’s life: spiritual, human, and intellectual development.
However, their preparation extends beyond academic studies. Throughout their formation, they will strengthen their spiritual and community life while deepening their commitment to:
- Sacred Scripture: Emphasizing the centrality of the Word in their lives and mission.
- Missionary Animation: Preparing for pastoral service in diverse realities.
- Justice, Peace, and Integrity of Creation (JPIC): Engaging in social transformation based on Gospel values.
Additionally, they will actively participate in pastoral and missionary work within local communities, where they will apply what they have learned and experience firsthand the daily life of God’s people.
In today’s world, communication plays a crucial role in the mission. Therefore, the seminarians will also receive training in media and digital evangelization, equipping them with the skills to effectively share the Gospel message in various contexts.
It is anticipated that by the conclusion of this formative journey, Elías, Jhon Jairo, Norvin, and José Henriquez will have grown in their vocational discernment and will be invited to make a decision about their commitment to the Congregation. Through a well-rounded formation grounded in Divine Word values, they are preparing to devote their lives to missionary service, ready to share the Gospel with the communities most in need.
