The day brought together the work of the four Characteristic Dimensions — Biblical Apostolate, Mission Animation, Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation (JPIC), and Communication — while providing an opportunity for participants to share experiences from the Provinces and Regions of the PANAM Zone and discern common priorities for the future.

The day began with the prayer, led by confreres from the Mesoamerica Subzone, with a special intention for the mission of Communication and for the needs of the Church and the Congregation.

The day’s activities were moderated by Fr. Julio García, SVD, Communication Coordinator of the Mexico Province. The programme opened with the presentation of videos prepared by the Communication team, documenting the activities and key moments of the first days of the meeting.

Participants then gathered according to their respective Characteristic Dimensions to conduct a SWOT analysis, examining their Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats. This exercise enabled each group to take a closer look at the realities of the different Provinces and Regions, identifying positive experiences, challenges and opportunities for growth.

During the group discussions, participants shared initiatives and experiences from their respective missionary contexts. The exchanges revealed that, despite the cultural, social and pastoral diversity across the American continent, many of the challenges facing the four Dimensions are shared. These challenges, participants noted, can be addressed more effectively through greater collaboration, dialogue and the exchange of experiences.

From reflection to concrete action
In the afternoon, the participants gathered in plenary to present the results of their reflections. The reports revealed many strengths and opportunities within the Divine Word mission, while also identifying weaknesses and challenges that require attention, creativity and careful planning.

A central focus of the discussion was the development of an action plan. Participants emphasized the importance of strengthening collaboration among confreres, working more closely with the laity, and transforming the reflections of the meeting into concrete missionary priorities and actions in the different realities of the PANAM Zone.

The proposed action plan is intended to become an important instrument for strengthening the work of the four Characteristic Dimensions and enabling the Divine Word mission to respond more effectively to the needs of today’s world.

Social and cultural changes, new forms of communication — particularly the growing impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) — situations of poverty and injustice, environmental challenges, and the diverse pastoral needs of communities all call for an increasingly attentive, close and creative missionary presence.
Participants also highlighted the need to strengthen cooperation among the four Dimensions, the Provinces, Regions and other areas of the Congregation. The Divine Word mission becomes more fruitful, they noted, when experiences, capacities and initiatives are shared and placed at the service of common goals.

Despite the challenges identified, the day’s discussions were marked by a strong sense of hope and commitment. The participants recognized that difficulties can also open new possibilities for renewing the Congregation’s missionary presence and finding more effective responses to the needs of people and communities.

Continuing the journey
Before the official conclusion of the meeting, Fr. Wojciech Szypula, SVD, General Coordinator of the Biblical Apostolate, bade farewell to the participants due to another commitment. In his message, he offered a positive assessment of the gathering, highlighting both the fruitful work carried out within the four Dimensions and the commitment demonstrated by the participants.

His words reinforced the importance of continuing the journey begun during the meeting and bringing its reflections and proposals into the concrete realities of the Provinces, Regions and missionary communities throughout the PANAM Zone.

The work of the fourth day thus underscored a central conviction of the gathering: the mission must move from reflection to action. Through careful planning, collaboration and renewed missionary commitment, the four Characteristic Dimensions seek to strengthen the Divine Word mission and respond, with hope and fidelity to the Gospel and the Congregation’s charism, to the challenges and calls of our time.

The day concluded with the celebration of the Holy Mass, followed by dinner and a time of fraternal fellowship among the participants.
