Faith fills the Church as pilgrims of all generations gather in prayer and communion.

Pangalana District Holds Annual Pilgrimage in Ambohitsara Est

Emmanuel Mawuli Anyomi, SVD

The Pangalana District held its annual pilgrimage in Ambohitsara Est, the center of the parish, from August 13 to 17, 2026. The five-day gathering brought together many faithful for prayer, spiritual formation, Stations of the Cross, Eucharistic adoration, Bible competitions, and sporting activities.

The pilgrimage was joined by Fr. Ramosandrianarivo Laraison, Vicar General of the Diocese of Mananjary and representative of the Bishop, and Fr. Emmanuel Mawuli, SVD, Regional Superior of the SVD in Madagascar.

The highlight was the Eucharistic celebration on Sunday, August 16, at the Church of Mary, Queen of Ambohitsara. Presiding at the Mass, Fr. Laraison reminded the faithful that faith is nourished through prayer and that a relationship with Jesus cannot be built in a single day but requires perseverance and continual growth within the Church.

The gathering also provided an opportunity to bid farewell to Fr. Armand Nosewa, SVD, who had served as the priest responsible for the district for nine years. Newly ordained SVD priests Fr. Razafimahafaly André, SVD, and Fr. Michaël Allyd Soamihely, SVD, also participated in the pilgrimage, offering spiritual instruction, administering the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and celebrating Masses of Thanksgiving.

The pilgrimage concluded on August 17 with a Mass of Mission and Sending Forth, bringing five days of prayer, fellowship, and spiritual renewal to a close.
