Peace Rally on the Funeral Day of Pope Francis

Ivan DSilva, SVD

Ambassa (Tripura) 26 April 2025: Holy Spirit Parish organized a peace rally to mark the funeral day of Pope Francis. At a time when wealth and power often becomes an ultimate goal, Pope Francis leaves an eternal trace without ever having sought to enrich himself. He did not bequeath any material fortune. He left a moral fortune. A lesson in humility, a vision of service, He wasn’t a luxury Pope. He was a pope of heart. A man who has proved that to live simply is to reign differently.

Pope Francis’s tomb inside the Basilica of Saint Mary Major must be well sealed but certainly he is raised and enjoys the bliss of the heavenly Father. He died when the Easter just got finished and the Easter octave just began. He remained back to say and hear the Alleluia Jesus is Risen, Alleluia for the last time and he too was raised up above.

When some countries are busy waging wars and collecting ammunitions for the next destruction, when the inextinguishable fire burns the forests in a few places, when migrants are in search of jobs, when refugees are looking out for a safe place Pope Francis born again in the heavenly abode to pray for the peace world. He taught the world what compassion is, which is why he washed the feet of prisoners.

Almost 300 people joined the peace procession arranged in honour of Pope Francis on his funeral day. Faithful carried candles and flowers and walked almost two kilometres to pay homage to him. 2 Timothy 4:7 states: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith” the verse summarises Paul’s life and ministry fits very well to Pope Francis.
