Providing Clean Water and Hope in Bidibidi, Uganda
SVD SSD Communication Team
The lack of water not only affects food production but also severely limits access to clean water for essential daily use—drinking, cooking, and hygiene. Recognizing these hardships, our community took concrete action.
Following the inauguration of the new Sacred Heart of Jesus Chapel in Bidibidi, we drilled a borehole within the chapel compound to provide a reliable source of clean water. To ensure the sustainability of this initiative, we also installed a solar-powered water system, enabling consistent access to water even during the harshest dry months.
Our goal was clear: to offer clean, accessible water to both refugees and local residents. Today, we are grateful to see that vision realized. The availability of clean water has brought immense joy and relief to many individuals. People now visit the chapel not only for spiritual nourishment but also to collect clean water for drinking, cooking, washing, and other essential needs. This has eliminated the need to walk long distances in search of water, saving time and energy for families—time they now invest in education, work, and participation in church programs.
Through the clean water project at Sacred Heart of Jesus Chapel, we continue to share the Good News with all who come to draw water. The chapel has become both a spiritual and physical source of life and hope for the community.
Looking ahead, we plan to drill more boreholes in other chapels, expanding our outreach to serve a larger portion of the population in our settlement mission.
We express our heartfelt gratitude to our generous benefactors, whose prayers and financial support make this mission possible. Thank you for your unwavering commitment to transforming lives through faith, compassion, and action.
