The meeting brought together vocation promoters from the SVD Provinces of Spain, Portugal, Slovakia, Germany, Central Europe, and Hungary. The gathering was coordinated by Fr. Bonaventura, SVD, Coordinator for Formation and Vocation Promotion in the European Zone. Also present were Fr. Franz Helm, SVD, Coordinator of the European Zone, and Fr. Marek Vanus, SVD, President of the European Zone Committee.

Through dialogue and shared reflection, participants explored current realities, challenges, and opportunities for vocation ministry in Europe. A key point that emerged was the need to focus vocation ministry on young adults between the ages of 20 and 35. Experience has shown that many prospective candidates are university students, graduates, or young professionals who are seeking a deeper sense of purpose and commitment in life.

Participants also emphasized the importance of vocation promoters actively reaching out to young people and accompanying them in discerning God’s call. Vocation ministry, they noted, is not limited to recruitment but involves walking with individuals as they discover their vocation and place in the Church and society.

The meeting further highlighted that fostering vocations is a shared responsibility of all confreres. Creating welcoming, authentic, and joyful communities, together with a strong commitment to prayer for vocations, remains essential.

The participants expressed their conviction that God continues to call young people in Europe to missionary life. They reaffirmed their commitment to creating communities and formation processes where that call can be heard, discerned, and embraced through genuine accompaniment and joyful witness.
