Six SVD Missionaries Ordained to the Priesthood in the Philippines
Tagaytay, Philippines – In a solemn and joyful celebration, six new priests of the Society of the Divine Word (SVD) were ordained on February 8, 2025, at 9:00 AM at the Holy Spirit Chapel of the Divine Word Seminary, Tagaytay.
The Koinonia Class—comprising newly ordained missionaries to various parts of the world—embraced their sacred calling with profound faith and commitment.
The ordination Mass was presided over by Most Rev. Raul B. Dael, DD, Bishop of the Diocese of Tandag, with Bishop Leopoldo Jaucian, SVD, of Bangued and Bishop Emeritus Pedro Arigo of Puerto Princesa also in attendance.
They were joined by around 170 priests, most of whom were fellow SVD missionaries, signifying the unity and missionary spirit of the congregation.
The six newly ordained priests, who come from diverse backgrounds, have been assigned to various missions across the globe:
- Rev. Jonathan B. Florino, SVD – Missionary to Poland
- Rev. Eoin B. Hubilla, SVD – Missionary to Portugal
- Rev. Min Gyo “Daniel” Lee, SVD – Missionary to the United States (Chicago Province)
- Rev. Ian Mar S. Limbag, SVD – Missionary to the Philippines (Southern Province)
- Rev. Jayvee C. Vagilidad, SVD – Missionary to Ecuador
- Rev. Yawei “Joseph” Wu, SVD – Missionary to the Philippines (Central Province)

Rooted in the words of John 21:18, which remind missionaries of the sacrifices and faithfulness required in their journey, the newly ordained priests were urged to embrace their mission with unwavering trust in God.
In his homily, Bishop Dael emphasized the profound responsibility of the priesthood, likening it to the journey of Christ Himself—marked by service, self-sacrifice, and complete surrender to God’s will.
He called on the ordinands to remain steadfast in their mission, especially as they go forth to unfamiliar lands, cultures, and pastoral challenges.
The ordination Mass was a moving testament to the missionary character of the SVD Congregation, which continues to send its members to the farthest corners of the world, proclaiming the Gospel and serving communities in need.
The celebration concluded with an atmosphere of joy and gratitude, as family members, friends, religious communities, and lay faithful gathered to bless and congratulate the new priests.
As they embark on their missions, the Koinonia Class carries the missionary spirit of St. Arnold Janssen, the founder of the Society of the Divine Word, bringing Christ’s message to the nations.
