Solemn ‘Te Deum’ at the end of the academic year in pastoral centres in Slovakia

The Slovak SVD Province has two university pastoral centres under its administration: The University Pastoral Centre of St. Joseph Freinademetz serves the needs of students in Bratislava and the University Pastoral Centre of Ján Vojtaššák serves the needs of students at the Catholic University in Ružomberok.

On Wednesday, May 14, 2025, a ‘Te Deum’ thanksgiving ceremony was held at both centers to close the academic year. The main celebrant in Ružomberok was the Archbishop of Košice, Mons Bernard Bober, and the preacher was the Provincial of the Slovak SVD Province, Fr. Marek Vaňuš SVD. The celebrant and preacher in Bratislava was a missionary working in the Philippines, currently on vacation, Fr. Stanislav Orečný SVD.

In both centres there are two confreres who are dedicated to the needs of university students and accompany them through their years of study. The SVD are the only religious order in Slovakia that manages two of the eleven university centres.
