State-Level Youth Workshop and International Women’s Day Celebration at Janvikas Society in Indore
On March 1, 2025, the Madhya Pradesh State-Level Children and Youth Parliament Workshop was held on the Janvikas premises. The event brought together 150 children and young people from Bhopal, Khandwa, Jabalpur, and Indore. The workshop was led by Fr. Edwin, founder of the Children’s Parliament, and Mr. Joseph Ratnam, one of its key promoters.
The opening ceremony was attended by prominent guests, including Ms. Priti Tiwari, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP); Ms. Tara Pargi, representative of the Nehru Yuva Kendra; and Mr. Bhagwan Singh Sahu from the Department of Women and Children. Fr. James, Fr. Emma, and staff from various organizations were also present to support and encourage the participants. As a result of the workshop, a state-level team was formed to represent the Children’s Parliament in Madhya Pradesh. The core objective was to nurture children and youth in social, democratic, and participatory leadership values.
A few days later, on March 8, 2025, Janvikas Society enthusiastically celebrated International Women’s Day with 450 women from slum areas and rural communities in Indore. It was a vibrant occasion dedicated to recognizing the role of women in family and community development.
Distinguished guests were present at the event, including Mr. Umakant Choudhary, DSP of Indore, as the chief guest; Bishop Thomas Mathew of the Diocese of Indore; Ms. Hemlatha, DSP of Narcotics; Mr. Sukhdev Ghoomen, Chairman of the Digiana Group; and Ms. Rosilint Joseph, President of the Rotary Club of Indore Adarsh. Member of Parliament Mr. Shankar Lalwani also attended as a special guest.
During the celebration, Janvikas distributed 20 sewing machines to promote sustainable livelihoods among women. Several cultural performances were presented by the participants themselves, showcasing their creativity, strength, and dedication.
Both events reflect Janvikas Society’s strong commitment to promoting social justice, empowering vulnerable communities, and forming leaders who are devoted to building a more just and compassionate future.
