Strengthening Our Spiritual Roots: AFRAM Arnold Janssen Spirituality Network Holds First Workshop in Ghana
Jean Yangia, SVD
Four SSpS sisters and ten SVD members from different parts of Africa participated in the workshop. The SSpS participants included Sr. Marita Kurian from South Africa, Sr. Bernadette Dere and Sr. Eunice from Ghana, and Sr. Damiana from Togo. The SVD participants were Fr. George Angmor, Fr. Abeam Emmanuel, and Br. John Akkufo from Ghana; Fr. Togbe Blaise and Fr. Ezi Urbain from Togo; Fr. Giang A. Nguyen from Mozambique; and Fr. Jean Yangia from the Congo.
Among the facilitators, we had the privilege of being guided by Fr. Kamion Willy, the outgoing AFRAM Zonal Coordinator, and Fr. Hugo Calis, the Zonal Coordinator for Formation and the new AFRAM Zonal Coordinator.
Numerous inputs were shared by both the SSpS and SVD members, encouraging us to deepen our spirituality and build strong networks and relationships. The primary goal of the workshop was to prepare resource persons and develop materials for retreats.
In conclusion, we affirmed that, as members of one family, we must promote our spirituality wherever we go. Our spirituality is about dispelling the darkness of sin and the night of unbelief, so that the heart of Jesus may live in the hearts of all people.
We are deeply grateful to all the SVD and SSpS members from Ghana for their hospitality and generosity. Truly, the world is our parish.
