SVD Brothers Renew Their Mission at the 9th National Convention in Odisha

The 9th Brothers National Convention was held from 12 to 14 January 2026 at Shanti Bhavan, Jharsuguda, Odisha, bringing brothers together from various provinces across India. Rooted in the theme “SVD Brothers: Witnessing to the Word,” the convention provided a meaningful space for prayer, reflections and fraternity. Bro. Kishore Tigga SVD National Coordinator of India Sub- Zone had organized the convention.

The convention opened with a Holy Inaugural Mass presided by INE Provincial Fr. Anuranjan Bilung SVD, Con- celebrated by INH Provincial Fr. Ignatius Santhuraja SVD, ING Regional Fr. A. Jeevan Kennady SVD, Formation Secretory India Sub-Zone Fr. A. Savari Rayan SVD, Mission Secretory India Sub-Zone Rev. Fr. Luvis Ronald Pereira SVD and confreres from the campus. Key note address was given by INE Provincial Rev. Fr. Anuranjan Bilung SVD which really put up the participants in the right track for the convention, he emphasized the contributions of the SVD brothers in the different fields for the society and how our Founder St. Arnold Janssen recognized the needs of brothers in the Society.

The theme of the convention invited participants to renew our commitment to live and witness with hope in today’s changing world. Input sessions formed the core of the programme. There were 27 Brothers from all over India and 5 priests’ confreres, total 32 members participated in convention. Brothers from the various age group were present even the senior most aged 93 years and the youngest 21 years age, everyone felt quite at home and made the floor very homily atmosphere and everyone actively shared our experiences, challenges and insights from various ministries, making the sessions enriching and participatory. These interactions fostered mutual learning and strengthening the sense of shared mission among the participants. In the evening we too had a friendly basketball match with the priest confreres over there, which was really entertaining and the winners were brothers. We also had a day of outing where we could really enjoy ourselves being together with fun and laughter.

The convention concluded with a renewed commitment to witness through lives of services, simplicity and hope. The event proved to be a grace-filled and enriching experience for all participants.
