SVD Fraternity Tamil Nadu Marks 10 Years of Faith and Fellowship

The day began with a reflective session revisiting the fraternity’s journey over the past decade, followed by a solemn visit to the cemetery of Fr. Karl Ritz, SVD, the founder of the seminary. The meeting that followed was rich with sharing, reflection, and constructive suggestions for the way forward. The SVD participants included the Mission Secretary of the Province, Fr. Bali Reddy SVD, the Rector of St. Charles’ Seminary and the Spiritual Director of this Lay Partner group – Fr. Lawrence Bose SVD, the former mission secretary of the Province and the present Rector of Divine Word Centre, Chennai – Fr. G. Lazar SVD, and the former Rector of St. Charles’ Seminary & present Procurator of the Divine Word Centre, Chennai – Fr. Y James SVD, among others. In his speech, Fr. Bali Reddy SVD suggested that the fraternity is referred to simply as “SVD Partner”, rather than “SVD Lay Partner”.
A series of books release and website launch highlighted the celebration. A souvenir commemorating the anniversary, four books documenting the activities of the SVD Fraternity and a biography of Fr. Karl Ritz, SVD were released. The fraternity’s website: www.svdfraternity.in was also launched.
The Eucharistic Celebration, presided over by Fr. Lawrence Bose SVD stood as the spiritual high point of the day. Concelebrated by 10 priests, the Holy Mass was marked by solemnity and reverence, deepening the spirit of gratitude and strengthening the bonds of unity among the members.
The afternoon brought light-hearted joy, with games and activities for children and adults, accompanied by prizes and gifts that added to the festive atmosphere. Fr. Victor Roche SVD organized these party games for the participants.
The celebration concluded with expressions of heartfelt gratitude from members, acknowledging the fraternity’s past journey while embracing the vision for its future.
