SVD School Holds Psalm and Scripture Storytelling Contest for Junior High Students
Marianus Paulino Mada, SVD
The event, which drew participants from ten schools in Ende, was part of the nationwide celebration of National Bible Month and also marked the 72nd anniversary of Syuradikara SVD High School, to be observed on September 29.
Each school sent its best representatives to proclaim the Word of God through psalms and storytelling. Performances ranged from melodic chanting to deeply moving retellings of biblical passages, creating an atmosphere both solemn and inspiring.
School director Brother Kris, SVD, highlighted the importance of the initiative in his remarks.
“The theme of the National Bible Month 2025 is God renews relationships in life. Each of us is called to renew our relationship with God, with others, and with ourselves. Through this contest, we are invited to deepen our love for the Word of God. The Scriptures can be a source of hope,” he said.
He added that the competition was not only about performance but also about helping students discover their talents and gain confidence.
The contest drew enthusiastic support from teachers and classmates alike. Despite the competitive setting, the event was marked by fraternity, with every performance warmly applauded as a sign of encouragement.
For many students, the contest became more than a showcase of skills—it was a chance to strengthen their faith and grow in self-confidence. Winners will be announced on September 29 during the school’s 72nd anniversary celebration.
Beyond the medals and trophies, organizers stressed, the true prize lies in fostering a deeper love for the Word of God among the youth.
