The Indonesia Timor Province Celebrates the Sunday of the Word of God with Creative Liturgical Expressions.
Ireneus Bernardus Boli Lolan, SVD (Bible Apostolate Coordinator)
For us, SVD members, this celebration holds particular significance. It invites us to renew our love for the Holy Bible as the living Word of God—the source and foundation of our spiritual growth and missionary identity. It is also a moment to renew our commitment to live and proclaim the Word faithfully in our daily lives and ministries.
As Biblical Coordinator of the Indonesia Timor Province, I encouraged all members of the Province to celebrate this day creatively and meaningfully. In response, the parish community of Nela, one of the SVD-administered parishes in the Diocese of Atambua, celebrated the Sunday of the Word of God with great enthusiasm and devotion.
The celebration began with a solemn procession of the Holy Bible, accompanied by symbolic actions that highlighted the importance of the Word of God in the lives of the faithful. The parish choir enriched the liturgy with joyful and prayerful music. A central moment of the celebration was the enthronement of the Holy Bible in a prominent and beautifully decorated place in the church, symbolizing the Word of God as the heart and foundation of Christian life.
During the opening remarks of the Eucharistic celebration, I reminded the parishioners of the importance of Sacred Scripture in their journey of faith. I invited them to honor the Word of God not only through liturgical celebrations but also through daily reading, meditation, and proclamation in their personal and family lives.
The celebration served as a powerful reminder for the faithful to deepen their love for Sacred Scripture, allowing the Word of God to guide their lives, strengthen their faith, and inspire them to live as authentic witnesses of the Divine Word in their communities.
