Mission Day was celebrated at the Collegio del Verbo Divino in Rome, October 13-14. The CVD community reaffirmed its commitment to evangelization and emphasized the importance of missionary work in building bridges and spreading the faith.
On Saturday, October 13, Father Stanislaus Lazar, SVD, Mission Secretary, gave a lecture on the 150 years of mission of the Society and the challenges for the future. Father Tadeusz J. Nowak, OMI, Secretary General of the Pontifical Society for the Propagation of the Faith, spoke about the missionary work of the Church in different parts of the world. Both speakers were able to arouse the enthusiasm for mission among the community members and the Sisters Servants of the Holy Spirit present.
On Sunday morning, two missionaries shared their experiences of mission in Australia and Portugal, followed by the celebration of the Multicultural Eucharist presided by Cardinal-elect Ladislav Német, SVD, and concelebrated by Cardinal-elect Tarcisio Isao Kikuchi, SVD, and the SVD bishops participating in the Synod in Rome.
Lunch was also one of the highlights of the event, with a wide variety of traditional foods from different countries, allowing participants to enjoy a multicultural experience. The day concluded with a cultural event that included artistic performances from various cultures, reflecting the diversity and spirit of the Society’s mission throughout the world.
