Safeguarding Policy

The Society of the Divine Word is committed to creating and maintaining a safe environment for all children and vulnerable adults who interact with its members and are involved in its ministries. We have put in place clear standards of conduct for all members as well as procedures for investigating and reporting any allegations of abuse or misconduct to the appropriate ecclesiastical and civil authorities.

Each Province/Region/Mission of the Society has its Policy on Safeguarding and Protection of Minors and Vulnerable Adults from Sexual Abuse together with the appropriate protocols for responding to complaints of abuse, and a system of ongoing education in safeguarding for its members. The protocols are to be adhered to faithfully and without exception. The Provinces/Regions/Missions are expected to review and revise these protocols on a regular basis. Therefore, safeguarding issues and allegations of abuse or misconduct in the Society are handled by the responsible authorities in the respective Province/Region/Mission.
