EUROPA Media Coordinators gather in Zakopane: Expanding Digital Horizons

In the charming Polish town of Zakopane, from May 29th to June 2nd, 2023, European media coordinators from the Society of the Divine Word (SVD) came together for a transformative gathering. Held at the SVD House, the event welcomed representatives from Portugal, Spain, Slovakia, Poland, the Ural region, the Ireland-British province, Germany, and the European Central Province. The meeting fostered fruitful discussions on utilizing digital technologies and exploring innovative media strategies.

Notable attendees included Father Modeste Munimi SVD, General Coordinator of Communications, Father Martin Štefanec SVD, the communication coordinator of the Slovak Province, Father Václav Mucha SVD, a Slovak media professional contributing to the German province, and Father Peter Kubík SVD, the SVD Zonal Coordinator for Europe.

The gathering provided a platform for participants to exchange experiences and insights on various aspects of digital technologies and their effective utilization. The coordinators delved into techniques for creating engaging and informative video streams of Christian events. By leveraging the power of digital media, they explored strategies to capture the essence and appeal of these events, making them accessible to a wider audience. The utilization of artificial intelligence (AI) programs in photography was a prominent point of discussion.

An important objective of the gathering was to explore ways to establish a collaborative database for mission photographs, intended for use in printed publications. By pooling their resources and sharing images, the coordinators aimed to make these visuals readily available to SVD members worldwide.

The gathering of SVD media coordinators in Zakopane served as a dynamic platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration. The event provided an opportunity for European representatives to explore the potential of digital technologies, ranging from captivating video streaming to harnessing the power of artificial intelligence in photography.
