Appointment of New Apostolic Administrator for the Diocese of Francistown

The Cathedral Administrator of the Catholic Diocese of Francistown has officially informed the Holy Father, Pope Francis, of the appointment of Fr. Gabriel Lionel Afagbegee SVD as the new Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Francistown, Sede vacante et nutum Sanctae Sedid. This decree is effective as of May 22, 2024.

This appointment follows the sudden passing of the local bishop, our SVD confrere, Anthony Rebello, on May 4, 2024.

We extend a warm welcome to Fr. Afagbegee in his new role as Apostolic Administrator and offer our prayers for his new apostolate.
