A Sacred Journey of Embracing Transformation and Renewal

In a powerful two-day spiritual retreat (June 18-19), Chapter participants gathered on holy ground to reflect and rejuvenate under the guidance of former Superior General Heinz Kulueke. Themed “Transformation and Renewal in the Spirit of the Lord,” the event covered five crucial aspects of religious missionary life: Spirituality, Community, Leadership, Economics/Finances, and Education/Formation.

Father Heinz Kulueke, renowned for his deep insights and transformative journey, led the sessions. He emphasized the four Characteristics of Religious Missionary Work: Reaching Out, Transforming the World, Involving Others, and Living a God-Centered Life. His reflections offered a clear path toward authentic renewal and transformation, touching on Congregational Directions and Action Plans.

Father Heinz shared his journey about embracing a wounded world and facing numerous challenges and misunderstandings. He drew inspiration from the great and holy SVDs, who embodied the essence of being a trustworthy and creative disciple in today’s fractured world.

The retreat was marked by profound sharing sessions among the participants. These gatherings were about exchanging thoughts and fostering a sense of brotherhood and sisterhood. One capitular, deeply moved, expressed that the experience allowed for a deeper, more personal understanding of fellow participants.

The two-day event culminated in a heartfelt session in the chapter hall, during which participants expressed gratitude for the depth and sincerity of their shared reflections. Many, even those who couldn’t voice their thoughts, felt their hearts were full of appreciation for the experience facilitated by Father Heinz.

The spiritual journey culminated in a vibrant celebration of interculturality, a powerful symbol of the unity and joy experienced by the missionary family. The PANAM Zone brought the plaza to life with Latin rhythms, music, and dance, further symbolizing the unity and joy of the missionary family. The participants reveled in the shared joy, food, music, and the invaluable gift of togetherness, wrapping up the holy days on a joyous and uplifting note.
